2013
After 3 successful years of the Village vegetables, at the end of the 2013 season we decided to hand back the care of the planters to the Parks & Landscapes department of Mole Valley. They are going to keep the permanent herbs that we had planted and will add bedding plants each season. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the project such fun, we had many compliments from residents who really enjoyed watching the veg grow and harvesting the produce!
February 2012
Following the meeting on the 30th January we are now starting to grow from seed the tomatoes, chillis and will be in a few weeks sowing dwarf french beans, swiss ‘rainbow’ chard, and climbing french beans. Seeds like salads and beetroot will be sown direct into the soil. Like last year there will be strawberries, herbs and marigolds for colour. This year we are also planting up the big round bed on the corner of Tesco Express. The plan is to have a wigwam of climbing french beans in the middle with all the other veg around it.
The seeds will be ready to plant out at the beginning of May after the last frosts.
